Places you should know: Cuba

Coming from the very heart of the American continent, from the Orinoco-Amazonas region, arrived the first inhabitants of the island, my Cuba. Today we are more than 11 million.
Cuba, the largest of the Antilles, is an archipelago consisting of a main island named Cuba, the Isle of Youth and about 4,195 keys and islets. Its elongated and narrow shape propitiates circulation of trade winds from the Atlantic, which cool its tropical, humid climate. Only one fourth of the land is mountainous being its main systems: The Guaniguanico mountain range at the west region; the Sierra del Escambray to the south centre of the country; and to the east the Sierra Maestra with its Pico Real del Turquino, climbing to 1,974 meters above sea level, the island's highest point. The remaining territory, plain and fertile, includes immense extensions of sugar plantations (the island's main export line), tobacco (highly appreciated worldwide) and other agricultural products. The island's has more than 200 rivers of short course and flow impetuously, which hinders navigation. The biggest river is the Cauto, east of the country, with an extension of 250 km of which only 112 are navigable by small crafts. Subsoil is rich in nickel and nature shows a variety of plants and flowers as well as a marvellous diversity of animals. This Caribbean island has more than 280 charming beaches, virgin keys, caverns and caves for exploration, as well as forests and swamps for pleasure trips. Overall surface is 1 220 km.
Next I will show to some interesting places of me country to them:

This is the Seat of the Revolution, in Havana City, symbol of me country. site of singular historical value for being scene of many of the main acts and events of the Cuban Revolution. In the great esplanade that conforms it they have closed international congresses of the Party and several events and celebrated acts of solidarity with towns brothers.

This International Diving Center is located in the most western province of Cuba, Pinar del Rio, in a beautiful beach of white sand and coconut palms. At only 330 km away from Havana City. The blue sea, warm clear and quite offers you its treasures all along the more than 35 diving points with unbelievable coral reefs and caverns.

At the left of the Havana’s harbour entrance, between San Carlos de la Cabaña fortress and Casa Blanca, there is the majestic and colossal statue known as Havana’s Christ.

It was built more than 40 years ago. Its white Carrara marble contrasts with the gray stones surrounding it; the fortresses of “Los Tres Reyes del Morro”, “ San Salvador de la Punta”, "La Real Punta” and “San Carlos de la Cabaña”, that defended Havana for centuries.

Havana’s Christ was inaugurated on December 25th, 1958, seven days before Batista tyrant was defeated. The monument was built in Italy by the Cuban sculptor Gilma Madera, who passed away recently. Jesus is on his feet with a hand on his chest and the other raised as if he were blessing. He is looking towards the city and he is 20 meters tall on a 3 meters high base. He weights 320 tones and he is formed by 6 pieces. As he is located on a hill, his height is 51 feet over the sea level, which makes easy to see him from different parts of the City.

It will continue....
