3 Ways to Make the World a Better Place...Philippines

1) Do something to meet the needs of others. Selfishness is the root of all evil. It is the seed that causes anger, greed, sloth, and a host of other sins that makes the world go awry.

2) Use 20% less of everything. We have become such an extravagant race that we produce so much waste: waste water, waste paper, waste food, waste smoke, waste clothes, waste everything! I know this may be quite a sacrifice to all of us, but we can surely STILL survive on 20% less of everything.

3) Surrender our lives to Jesus. To become His disciples, learning his ways, teaching His ways, even attempting to become like Him every day. But before we are even able to do this (because we cannot; our nature is simply sinful, we must surrender our lives to Him, to trust Him as our Lord and Saviour. :)

Your premise is faulty...if we are only ever sinful, by nature, then we could NEVER be like Jesus. We can try and try and it would never be possible because you say we are all just sinful and bad by nature.

Preaching religion while telling people how bad they are is pretty crappy motivation. Why even try to be better if we are doomed by sin?

Religon sucks.

Why can't people just be nice, kind, genrous, forgiving, loving, understanding, tolerant and non-judgemental because it is the right thing to do? For all of man/woman kind? Being kind serves the greater good of all people on this planet which is better than trying to serve just one man and his ideal.

Although I agree with Cole when she says that telling me how bad I am is not a good start, I don't think religion sucks, it actually has some aspects that are worth to save like sense of community, appreciation for your neighbours and the search for the meaning of life... It's fanaticism what causes trouble. If we were less selfish and we were willing to spend more time helping others instead of looking at ourselves in the mirror, we'd live in a better world.

I agree with your Reblede, but if people use religion to better themselves with the rest of the world in mind, that works for me. To live your life serving someone who is already "perfect" seems pointless and a waste of time. Truly, if there is a god, I think they/he/she/them/it would be so much happier if people spent their time looking after people who could use it rather than looking after them selves and serving god.

That is why I think religion sucks....most say you need to put god before your fellow man.

hey guys. You're right, was can NEVER be completely like Jesus. But we can always strive to be more like him. When we receive Him and develop a "relationship" with Him, then His blood covers our sins, our sinful nature. We are not excempt from doing wrong, but His Holy Spirit helps us to choose what is right. I wasn't "preaching about religion". I was sharing that people need a real relationship with Jesus, not to adopt his religion. And there IS a difference. :)

No, shining,

people need food, clean water and money to live off and a place to exist without war and pollution.

If all the christian churches of the world were to fork over the money they hold right now, we could end world hunger.

A personal relationship with jesus won't pay your bills, feed your kids or get you a job. I don't think feeling bathed in blood will make hunger pains go away or get your kids warm clothes and a roof over their heads.

you are preaching christianity and it is insulting...considering this is an international blog...there are people of many religions here and all should be respected.

Each person living for their own personal satisfactions is part of what is wrong with the world.

hey cole. while I respect your comments and opinion, I do not think I am insulting anybody by sharing my thoughts on Jesus.

Anybody else IS ALLOWED to share his or her thoughts about anything in this blog, and I sincerely think that my thoughts about Jesus should be included on the top three things to make a better world.

No, a relationship with Jesus won't pay the bills or end world hunger. What does it do, then? You will only find out once you actually do it, wont you? A relationship with Him is a gift, and as such, nobody is forced to accept it.

Wouldn't you share something cool with someone else so they too can experience that "coolness" in their lives? I would.

Blessings,

Shing

Again, Shing, I think it is insulting to preach one specific religion in a blog based on international people participating. Your insistence that jesus is the way would also be somewhat insulting to a muslim or jew or hindu or buddist....

You can think and do what ever you want, I think it is wrong to preach about how sinful we all are and to tell people that they should know jesus. It is not like me saying anything would prohibit you from writing whatever you want.....I am no authority here. I am also voicing my opinion...religon is pointless and having a "relationship" with jesus is also pointless if we are talking about how to make the world a better place.

Merry Christmas Cole!

Hope you enjoy the holidays and the holiday spirit!

And nope, a relationship with Jesus isn't pointless. I hope you find out for yourself. :)
