I think the fact that 54 million Americans over the age of 18 do NOT believe in evolution says a lot about the religious majority in our country of which our president is a member.

I think Bush really didn't mean that. I believe he was trying to say something that could place him in the middle of both opinions and (in his little mind) have support from both sides, but it backfired badly.
And for the rest of the 18 million americans I have just one word: Fossils. Explain them and I'll reconsider evolution.
They do explain it honey.....they say that the great flood put them all there and it was planted by god and that carbon dating is a crappy science and they believe, "If god said, I believe it, that settles it." They say dinosaurs are in the bible in the book of Job. They make reference to some "behemoth, that is large and eats the reeds and ferns..."
